CGF - What program were you in at the VFS?

I'm was in the Digital Design Diploma program. When I say this, some people get confused because of my 3D work. There is another Diploma for 3D at VFS too, but I was not in it.

CGF - Can you tell us a little about your experiences at VFS?

To enter Digital Design, you have to submit work that proves that you are a creative person. It is a REALLY intensive course. You work day and night along with classmates that have different talents, skills, interests and work styles. It’s really gratifying to see such diversity focus on a common goal and solution.

I really liked the VFS teachers and staff. They are working professionals and instructors at the same time. Most of them are always willing to share knowledge and encourage your talent both inside and outside of school. They are not selfish people. Because of the variety of talent from classmates and instructors, you learn a lot of skills and perspectives of life.

CGF - What kind of projects did you do at VFS?

VFS places special emphasis on group projects. They teach you a methodology for project management, which enables your design choices to be successful. You learn to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of each person. You learn to put a design team together where 2 + 2 = 6. The Digital Design course exposes you to motion graphics, interface design, programming, audio creation, print design, project management, illustration, etc. After you get exposed to all the different types of media, you chose one path you want to focus on and you take specialized classes towards that focus. It's very intensive. You need to learn in a short amount of time, and be able to deliver a message/emotion in a compelling way that will satisfy a specified brief.

CGF - So what and where have you been working at since graduation?

I have been mainly recovering from VFS and my career. Both where very intensive, and I barely slept in the last 7 years. I have been working at some projects I started freelancing at Canada and some others from USA. I'll finish those in 2 months at the most. I will be then writing a book about Lighting and Texturing. No producer has contact me so far. However, I'm sure I will be able to produce something of interest for the Lightwave community.
