133 Projecting High Res Details onto Low Res Model Zbrush Xnormal 2 methods

By Alfred Zhuo

Hi everyone!

For this video, I go through about two methods of projecting high res details into low res model. For the first method I show a simple projection using the shoulder guard model that we modelled afew weeks ago. I made a duplicate of the shoulder guard and imported into the scene, and to create the low res shoulder guard I simply pressed “ZRemesh” using default settings and it created a really nice low poly mesh for me. Also referenced a video tutorial from Fractualife: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7NM8…

For the benefit of the length of tutorial I didn’t want to go through the full length of the 2nd method but do refer to the pdf as shown during the video- I used a corgi model for the 2nd method and also used XNormals. There are quite alot of information that can be picked up from there. The XNormal method is actually still highest quality but it does take slightly more time, but also it will be ready for all softwares.

I also went through a simple character example creation workflow based on Nikolay’s Model, various different ways to create a model and the recommended polycount. As mentioned on Follygon’s video tutorial & Bruce Lee- Be like WATER! Act accordingly and morph to the situation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dj1ws…
