Animating A Simple Wave Effect In After Effects

A wave effect in After Effects can be created by keying a path or vector shape. Joe Clay, an artist and designer at NGEN Design shows how to do this with his own tricks of the trade!

Animating the wave effects is actually quite simple, but Joe has a way to make shapes and apply keyframes. He uses forethought in his workflow so he can work faster with less effort! The first step was double-clicking on any shape tool as an easy method for centering them within compositions quickly without stagnation from trying different things one by one which takes time when you’re juggling several animations at once (like water waves).
