Fast And Dynamic Footprints In The Snow In Blender

Footprints pressed into the ground might be challenging in 3D, but it’s pretty easy to create them with Blender. If you think this is a job for dynamic paint or displacement maps, then check out how Chris McFall of Hollowpixel Studios did his footprint on snow using both techniques – he’s created some really cool ones so far!

Have you ever wanted to leave your footprints in the snow or mud? You can with this technique. Have Blender open on screen, then click and drag over areas where you want characters to walk so their shoes will sink into whatever medium they are standing on – like wet earth for example!
