Using The Triple Switch Utility Node In Maya

Maya’s triple switch node is an old-school utility that has very particular uses. It can be used for creating one shader which will affect multiple objects but each object requires a unique input in its color channels so as an example, the same shader would not work on two different things with identical properties or values because they’d have completely different results based only on how those individual components looked when processed through this filter structure.

Zeth takes the Maya Triple Switch to a new level with his clever example of how an object affects its surroundings. Check out this post about using one in your projects!

Zeth Willie writes: So for example, you could put one shader on 100 objects and have the color be different for each object. Still using just one complex-enough material!
